Kingoldrum Church for Sold? - 2013
It is understood that the church is under offer to a charity planning to use it as an equipment store for outdoor activities. Details a bit sketchy at present.
Kingoldrum Church is now advertised for sale. See Church of Scotland Properties for Sale - Kingoldrum Church for details.
Members of the community have held three meetings to discuss possible future uses of the church. A letter has been received from the Church of Scotland Trustees which states that they are now aware there is already a community hall in Kingoldrum, and they doubt the community could support two halls. The trustees are minded to seek to sell the church for value rather than to offer it on a favourable lease to the community. Any community group wishing to use the church is likely to have to buy the church at full value.
Polling station reprieved! November 2011
The final proposals by the Returning Officer, approved by Angus Council on 3rd November 2011, were:
Having considered the risks and having due regard to the representations received, the Returning Officer recommends that Kingoldrum Hall be retained as the polling place for polling district ASE with the caveat that this be monitored on an ongoing basis to ensure that the accessibility needs of the disabled continue to be fully considered.
In reaching this decision the Returning Officer took noted "strong public and [Councillor] member opinion regarding the closure of Kingoldrum Hall as a polling place." This included representations from Cllr Andrews, Cllr Mackintosh, Kirrirriemuir Landward West Community Council and a petition from 83 local residents.
